Sandie Vara ‘The Wellness Chef’

Culinary Artist, Celebrity Private Dining Chef, Athlete Keto Coach, Founder of 'The Kitchen' online cookery school and spice connoisseur & apothecary.

My Story

Sandie Vara, or ‘The Wellness Chef’ as he is known, was born and raised in Manchester. He grew up eating the multi-cultural delights of his neighbour’s cooking, of which all the different families that had relocated from around the world, all shared with each other there. A melting pot street of: Italian, Greek, Pakistani, Irish and Sandie’s own mixed culinary roots of Indian and East African cooking. Experiencing such a broad spectrum of flavours and styles of food, from such an early age, is exactly what helped him to develop his love and knowledge of food. Coming from a mixed heritage background of an Indian family, that had come from living in East Africa, and additionally having lived in Britain all his life, gave Sandie a unique take on spices and flavours. Encouraging him to creatively merge styles of cuisines and fuse unusual flavour combinations in order to create bespoke dishes and culinary delights to the palette. Having then trained in Classic French Cuisine, he was able to recreate authentic classical dishes, to an impeccable standard, as well as his more unconventional food artistry; cooking and learning under the esteemed Auguste Escoffier and alongside the renowned late Gary Rhodes.

Sandie is now based in the East Midlands, living and working between Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire & London. He cooks and films regularly from a professional kitchen owned by a close friend, called Memsaab Restaurant.

A range of products have been developed by himself, of which he promotes far and wide through his online shop and through being invited to headline & trade as a pop up spice boutique, at regular food festivals up and down the country. As well as supplying restaurant chefs with his full range to use in their dishes they serve also at their own restaurants.

Operating across all major social media platforms, Sandie is set on teaching the world about the misconceptions around the relationship between food and health, as well as the benefits of Keto Living and how to incorporate this into your everyday life. The Wellness Chef’s aim is to show people that there is more to food than just eating, but that if you pay attention to the healing power and transformative qualities of the fuel we put into our bodies, the long-term wellness effects will be endless.
