Sugar = Dopamine Spikes...
(And cravings!)

Our brains know that the quickest way to get energy is through dopamine (those happy hormones) and what is a really quick way of getting dopamine? Eating something we like, usually something sugary, as our brains also know that sugar gives our blood sugars a quick spike, which provides a brief burst of unsustainable energy, that later leads to feeling lower in energy. This is in exactly the same way that drugs provide an addict with a quick high when they are feeling low, only to leave them feeling worse and craving a bigger high than before. And thus creating the toxic cycle, that sadly our food industries have come to rely on as their guaranteed money-making system. All they had to do, was convince us that 'fat=fat', scaring us with stories of clogged arteries and heart disease, of fats solidifying around all our internal organs. These are all the results of having excess fat, in the same way if you let the petrol continue to flow into your car once it was full, it would overflow and end up spreading to places it wasn't meant to be. So what is the answer to this? Is it to not fill the car up altogether? Is it to try filling it up with a liquid with no petrol in? Or is it to know the correct amount to put in and stick to that? 

Sugar, as you now understand, our bodies do not have a use for and can extract nothing useful from. But that does not mean you cannot have anything sweet  or with natural occurring sugars in it. Portion control and type of sugar is key. This is where Sandie can teach you to decipher and make healthier choices.
